(If you put this in your journal, please link back to here.)

September is the official month for Ovarian Cancer Awareness, and for something that is the 4th leading cancer death among women in the US, it is sadly overlooked. I am looking to change that, and raise the awareness through my art. After all, how many people know how common it is? How many people know its official color without looking it up? (It's teal.)

So I've started this series of Deviations, this "Teal Ribbon Campaign" in hopes of raising awareness, even if it's just by letting one more person know.

Ovarian Cancer is the 5th leading cause of cancer death among women in the US.
Ovarian Cancer occurs in approximately 1 in 57 women.
More than 16,000 women will die this year from Ovarian Cancer. Another 25,000 will be diagnosed.
If Ovarian Cancer is caught early, before it spreads out of the ovaries, 90% of the women infected will survive 5 years.
When diagnosed after the Ovarian Cancer has spread, the chance of 5-year survival drops to less than 25%.
Only 24% of Ovarian Cancer is caught early.
There is no reliable screening test for the early detection of Ovarian Cancer.
WHY?

Can I just say what a wonderful person you are.. I am only 20 years old and was just told that I have Ovarian Cancer.

Not enough people know about it, and there are hardly any ads that express awareness.

you are wonderful!

Thank you... That means a lot.

My Mother had this disease
And she lived on man!
She was a fighter.
But now she is dead.
